Your security online

20 April 2018

Your security is important to us and we work hard to make sure your details are kept as safe and secure. With reports in the media of fraudsters and scams, such as scam artists pretending to be the Australian Tax Office, Telstra, and Australia Post, we encourage you to be vigilant for any suspicious requests for your personal information.

What to look out for

There are a number of ways in which fraudsters can target you, with the aim of obtaining banking login IDs, passwords, credit card details, and other personal details.

If you weren’t expecting the contact, or you have any cause of suspecting its authenticity, then don’t respond to it. Never divulge personal information and offer to call the organisation back using their publicly available contact details.

With emails, look out for spelling and grammar mistakes, or design that doesn’t quite look right, although scammers are getting more sophisticated.

Top tips for online security:

  • Never divulge passwords or PINs.
  • Use security software.
  • If the offer or promotion sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
